De aluminium werken uit de serie De beste<\/em> zijn ontstaan tijdens mijn artist-in-residence bij Make Eindhoven, en mogelijk gemaakt door het Mondriaan Fonds. Het project werd begeleid door een publicatie van Onomatopee, opgericht door Freek Lomme, met bijdragen van Freek Lomme, Lucette ter Borg, Sara Bay Williams en Renske Janssen. De serie De beste<\/em> bestaat uit fysieke vertalingen van hedendaagse symbolen: lichtflitsen, flashes en sterren, veelvuldig gebruikt om consumenten te verleiden, bijvoorbeeld voor perfecte witte tanden, glimmende mobiele telefoons of auto's. Maar mijn sterren glimmen niet: ze zijn ruw en stekelig, en hebben de aanwezigheid van levende wezens.<\/span><\/p>
