Ik ben beeldend kunstenaar (1978) en werk vanuit Amsterdam. Ik maak kleurrijke en tactiele (wand)sculpturen waarin ik non-verbale communicatie, innerlijke ervaringen en alternatieve realiteiten onderzoek. Mijn materialen varieren van textiel en keramiek tot gegoten aluminium. Tijd en aandacht zijn essentieel in mijn werkproces: langzaam, geconcentreerd maken vormt een tegenwicht voor de constante afleidingen, snelheid en efficiëntie van het dagelijks leven.
Tegelijkertijd biedt deze werkwijze ruimte voor associatief en tactiel onderzoek, waarin betekenis ontstaat door de wisselwerking tussen materiaal, vorm, intentie en de inspiratie die ik opdoe door te lezen, luisteren, voelen en gesprekken. Thema’s als identiteit, sociale codes en de cultuur van schone schijn spelen een centrale rol, evenals de ervaring van concentratie, afleiding en het tactiele universum dat zich tijdens het maakproces ontvouwt, met echo’s van het mysterieuze en het eindeloos onbekende.
Ik ben afgestudeerd aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie (bachelor) en het Sandberg Instituut (master), beide in Amsterdam. Mijn werk is tentoongesteld in Nederland en internationaal, en maakt deel uit van collecties van onder andere de Nederlandse Autoriteit Digitale Infrastructuur (Amersfoort), het Marie Curie-gebouw, Pivot Park (Oss), citizenM (Dublin, IE), de AkzoNobel Art Foundation (Amsterdam), het Curaçao Centre for Contemporary Art (Willemstad, CW), Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (Rotterdam), Museum Jan Cunen (Oss), de Erasmus Universiteit (Rotterdam), SKY Culture (Foshan, China) en diverse particuliere collecties.
Ik nam deel aan artist-in-residenceprogramma’s bij Instituto Buena Bista (Curaçao), Make (Eindhoven), het Europees Keramisch Werkcentrum (Oisterwijk) en Fundaziun Nairs (Zwitserland). Sinds 2015 geef ik les aan de afdeling Fine Art van HKU Utrecht.
I am a visual artist (1978) based in Amsterdam. I make colorful, tactile (wall) sculptures that explore non-verbal communication, inner worlds, and alternative realities. My materials range from textiles and ceramics to cast aluminum. Time and attention are essential to my process: slow, focused making provides a counterbalance to the constant distractions, speed, and efficiency of everyday life.
At the same time, this approach allows for associative and tactile exploration, through which meaning emerges from the interplay of material, form, intention, and the inspiration I gather from reading, listening, sensing, and conversations. Themes such as identity, social codes, and the culture of appearances are central, as is the experience of concentration, distraction, and the tactile universe that unfolds through the making process, often touching on the mysterious and the endlessly unknown.
I graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy (bachelor) and the Sandberg Institute (master), both in Amsterdam.
